Gramigo Foundation (NGO), Bihar Govt, 20 CUM biogas plant

A 5kW residential solar solution installed for Rekha Pathak in Ghaziabad to power a sustainable home.

Gramigo Foundation (NGO), Bihar Govt, 20 CUM biogas plant

Gramigo Foundation worked with the Government of Bihar and Thekra Gaushala Masalpur to overcome a major problem faced by Gaushalas, which involved caring for unproductive animals with limited funds. Government support helps with basic needs, but it is often not enough for daily running costs and staff salaries. To make the system more self-reliant, a 20 CUM biogas plant was set up. It converts cattle dung into clean cooking gas and useful organic manure.

Transforming Rural Energy: A Real Impact Story of Sustainable Change

Watch how Gramigo Foundation partnered with the Bihar Government to install a 20 Cum biogas plant, empowering rural communities with clean energy, reducing waste, and promoting sustainable living.

Objectives

Promote sustainability, cost efficiency and resource optimization of Gramigo Foundation’s cow shelters through clean energy solutions. To support clean energy use and enhance savings in Gaushalas.

Koshish Sustainable Solutions

01.

To support clean energy use and enhance savings in Gaushalas.

02.

To reduce the use of LPG by producing renewable energy from waste.

03.

To create a relaible income source for Gaushala activities.

04.

To manage cow dung properly and keep the surrounding area clean and hygienic.

Challenges

Solving financial problems, poor waste management, and increasing daily operating costs at Gramigo Foundation’s cow shelter.

Koshish Sustainable Solutions

Limited Financial Support

Government funds were not sufficient to meet all operating and maintenance expenses.

Koshish Sustainable Solutions

Non-Productive Cattle Burden

Gaushalas mainly house unproductive animals, resulting in very high maintenance costs without generating direct income.

Koshish Sustainable Solutions

Waste Management Issues

Proper disposal of large quantities of animal dung is important to avoid environmental related problems.

Impact

Creating clear benefits through saving costs, generating income, and supporting long-term sustainable change.

Reduced Fuel Costs

The Biogas produced from the cow dung reduces fuel costs.

Extra Income Source

Selling nutrient-rich biogas slurry provides a regular and steady income.

Improved Waste Utilisation

By turning cow dung into clean energy and manure, waste management problems are reduced.

Enhanced Sustainability Model

By using the biogas plant, the Gaushala has become self-sufficient and follows a recycling-based circular economy system.
