Rourkela Municipal Corporation implemented an advanced waste-to-energy solution to address the growing challenge of municipal solid waste management. This project stands out for its use of segregated organic fractions from municipal waste as feedstock for biogas generation. A 450 CUM biogas plant was established, along with a 50 kVA biogas-based genset that converts the generated biogas into electricity. The system produces approximately 600 units of power per day, which is synchronized and supplied to the grid, creating a sustainable and efficient urban waste management model.
